There once was a King who wanted nothing more than a son. A son with hair as black as ebony and skin as white as snow.
In time his wish was granted- Snow White was born. Unfortunately the King died soon after the birth of his son, and a few years later the Queen remarried. But the new King was selfish and vain. He would often stand in front of his magical mirror and ask; "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?".....
I think you know the rest of the story. It ends with poor Snow White being wickedly poisoned by his evil stepfather.
So here lies Snow White- not dead, not alive, waiting to be rescued by the handsome young Princess.
I did this for the Grimm's Fairy Tales contest held by the 'Myths and Legends' group here on Deviant. I didn't have time to complete it before the contest ended, so I couldn't enter. But here it is now. Was originally planning on making the roses red, but then thought I'd keep them white. What do you think- would they look better red?
Done in Gouache.
